KCI, Kitchener-Waterloo Collegiate & Vocational School, is a Secondary School located in the heart of Kitchener, Ontario, Canada.

Digital Photography (Grade 10: AWQ2OI) was first offered in the fall of 2007. The main difference between this new offering and our previous traditional photography program, was that students were not required to purchase, find or borrow an SLR camera. Instead, students are encouraged to enroll with any compact digital camera.

While the manual controls may not be present, there are still a number of ways to explore the techniques and art of photography. For example, students learn about aperture and shutter speed through their automatic presets (landscape, portrait, sports etc.). And as they stretch their camera's capabilities further with each shot, they develop an appreciation and understanding of what might be possible.

This gallery is just a small selection of the photos taken by students in the program. As classes end and new classes begin, we will be adding to and changing the gallery to reflect the students' photos.
